Obviously, this is why we're in business. My Wines Direct is your tool for getting good wines at a great price delivered direct to your door. Just thought I'd share the following news story with you, I'm sure you'll laugh just like I did!
There are still states that don't allow direct to consumer shipping, PA is one of them. In PA, up until now, if you wanted to purchase a bottle of wine, you'd have to do it at one of the state-run liquor stores. According to an article at www.suntimes.com, this is about to change. The PA Liquor Control Board is now allowing wine sales in grocery stores, with a pilot program involving two stores near the Harrisburg area.
The purchase is conducted with a machine, or kiosk. After selecting your wine, you insert your driver's license and finally, blow into a Breathalyzer to prove that you are sober. If the pilot program is successful, the PA Liquor Control Board plans to launch kiosk sales in about 100 grocery stores.
I'm sorry, but doesn't this seem a little unhygienic, so say the least?

This is typical government lack of thought process. What would constitute a "successful pilot"...everyone who blows into the breathalyzer is sober? Do purchasers buying from the State liquor store also have to blow into a breathalyzer? If not, then they could easily be selling to a drunk - they dono't always act drunk. Maybe nobody has pointe this out to the board. There are no words for how ridiculous this makes them look.
