Definitely Version 1. It's so much more festive, and the reflection of the fireplace through the glass is simply beautiful!

why don't you do a cover with wine bottles layer into the shape of a xmas tree?
x this could be white
xxx this layer could be blush
xxxxxx this layer could be reds

Both versions are very nice. I do like version 1 better - it seems to have more of a holiday feel to me.
