I've loved wine for many years now, long before I took this job, but it was a simple kind of love. I loved the taste. Sure, my interest in Pinot Noirs multiplied when I saw the movie "Sideways" and I was drawn to the romanticism of the vineyard. I had visited some smaller wineries in Sonoma while visiting my brother in San Francisco and I had attended a few tastings at a local wine store in New York City. But my knowledge of wine and wine making was pretty limited. You know how when there is limitless information on a topic, you sort of get lost in the details?
Well now that I'm marketing wine, some of the details are starting to stand out and I'm finding out more to love about wine than just simply the taste (not that there is anything wrong with that!) Lately, I've been reading more about the process of wine grape harvesting and I love that wine harvesting is still a mix of art and science. I've always been the kind of person who has been a mix of both myself: analytical with a dash of creative. I think the most interesting people are a mix of both. I really enjoy the intricacies that go with the harvesting and making of a good wine. It has definitely made me that more interested in the history of a wine, it's roots and the legacy of the vineyard itself.
